A Flower

The choreography narrates the three different developmental stages of a flower.

Within the setting of a sparse black box, the film is set to the song “A Flower” by John Cage. Using three different costumes in white, pinks and red (ranging from layered to exposed), soil and mud to reproduce the Earth’s surface, and illusions of rain and sun to represent weather elements, the abstracted Natural atmosphere for the dancer is created. The choreography narrates the three different developmental stages of a flower (birth, life and death) by interweaving movement styles that range from squirming to floating to wilting.
